Ozzie's Picks for 8/23/2019
Gray Whale Gin
Every bottle of Gray Whale Gin is made with sustainably sourced ingredients, from local farmers we know; thoughtfully designed with organic paint and a 100% biodegradable cork. A mighty fine gin with a crisp taste and a very reasonable price tag. And to make things even sweeter, every bottle sold supports Oceana through a 1% donation of annual sales.
Manhattan Project Whiskey Manhattan
At Manhattan Project, the belief is that everything you create with your hands represents who you are as a person. For this reason, Manhattan Project Whiskey Manhattan is made using hand-crafted bitters and vermouth created from the best natural products available. This exclusive blend is then rested in new American charred oak barrels. This creates a Manhattan that is barrel aged to smooth perfection, a truly crafted cocktail that is ready to drink straight from the bottle.
McAfee's Benchmark Old NO. 8 Bourbon
Named after the McAfee brothers who surveyed a site just north of Frankfort in the late 1700s, this rye recipe bourbon is yet another label that honors the storied history of the Distillery and the land it sits on. The nose bears caramel notes with a delicate stone-fruit backdrop. A robust and sturdy palate with some fine leather notes mingling with dry tobacco, a touch of oak and a hint of dried cherries. The finish is smooth and calming.
Ozzie's Picks for August 20th
This wine has a bouquet of strawberries and white flowers with hints of vanilla. It has the harmony and elegance that has earned world-wide appreciation of the rosés of Provence. Triennes rosé is the perfect accompaniment to a sunny summer afternoon.
Nielson Pinot Noir
This wine comes from three major Pinot Noir growing regions within Santa Barbara County, each of which is influenced by unique soil types and proximity to the Pacific Ocean. Santa Maria Valley is one of California's coolest AVAs with well-drained soils and one of the longest growing seasons in the world, brings pretty aromatics and red fruit flavors to the wine. Slightly warmer in climate, the Los Alamos area contributes ripe dark fruit flavors. Just south of Santa Maria Valley and Los Alamos, the Santa Rita Hills AVA, characterized by steep vineyard slopes and a distinct gravel minerality, adds power, depth and austere tannin expression.
Storm Sauvignon Blanc
Zesty grapefruit and tropical notes dominate the nose, with a hint of hay. The palate is round and quenching with citrus, guava, and melon flavors that finish long. New World freshness meets Old World texture.
